New Beach Wheelchair for Coldingham
Sunday, 16th of July saw the launch of Berwickshire’s first beach wheelchair. Sea The Change, the organisation who made it all happen, raised the funds through the Scottish Borders Council’s Berwickshire Localities Bid, a sum of £13,267. A large hippocampe wheelchair (mainly used by children and small adults) is now available for use. Sea the Change hope to attain additional funding for a Tundra wheelchair and hoist which would allow anyone regardless of their physical abilities to enjoy the beach.
At this time, Sea The Change are looking for volunteers to help sign out the wheelchair for people’s use. If you live locally and have the ability to open the hut and sign out the wheelchair in use, then they would like to hear from you.
