HARRY STYLES RUNS NEW ST ABBS MARKETING CAMPAIGN
Mysterious advertisements have been appearing across social media for a curious Island called Eroda. The island has its own promotional video, website, social media pages and brochures. However, the island does not actually exist! Twitter users have noted that some of the video footage and imagery is, in fact, our very own St Abbs as well as Norway. But this is just the beginning!
Harry Styles’ fans have picked up on links to the singer’s new album and so believe that it is Styles behind the whole campaign as he was seen filming in St Abbs for a music video only a short time ago. Furthermore, Styles’ fans have been specifically targeted with the ads and Visit Eroda was suspiciously launched at the same time as promotion began for the singer’s new album “Fine Line”.
Other links include; the fact that “Eroda” spelt backwards is “adore” – the name of one of the new tracks. Furthermore, the Visit Eroda website’s attractions pages reference “Chery Street” and “Golden Way”, both of which link to two other tracks on the album. A commenter on one of the social media pages said that they would be returning on December 13 – the day which the album is released.
This would not be the first time St Abbs has formed a different identity as the village was transformed into New Asgard, Thor’s town, in the most recent Avengers film which became the highest grossing film of all time in July (CNBC, 2019). Following this, signage twinning St Abbs with New Asgard was installed with the help of St Abbs Lifeboat.
It is unclear if Style’s is driving the mysterious campaign to promote the new album or if someone is orchestrating a marketing hoax, but we are excited to see what comes next!
