St Abbs Harbour is a quaint and picturesque fishing harbour in the heart of the Berwickshire Coast. It has recently become popular after featuring as Thor’s town, New Asgard, in the Avengers: Endgame!
It is also greatly popular with divers due to the Berwickshire Marine Reserve and its special location where the warm and cold currents meet meaning that there is a rare mix of the cold arctic fish and the tropical corals. Even if you don’t dive, why don’t you try the BMR’s new snorkel trails! A great experience for all.
The harbour is just beside the incredible St Abb’s Head National Nature Reserve, home to an internationally important seabird colony. You can also spot seal pups on the beaches in the autumn as well as dolphins and minke whales.
On a Friday, visit the St Abbs Market to discover beautiful crafted local goods and delicious homemade treats afterwards enjoy food at the Old School Cafe, Old Smiddy’s by the Number Four Gallery or try one of Ebbcarr’s famous crab sandwiches.
The village is also well-known for their community spirit after fighting for the St Abbs Lifeboat following the closure of the RNLI operated station. It reopened in 2016 as a fully privately funded and independent lifeboat station. There is now a shop opened by the harbour selling their popular branded goods to raise funds for the lifeboat.
