Sewing Machine Basics – drawstring gift bag
With Christmas emerging over the horizon we have included a new product in our Top Selling and most popular workshop.
What you will learn:
The workshop will start with an essential overview of the sewing machine, learning how to thread it and wind bobbins, understanding tension and which thread, which needles and which feet to choose along with troubleshooting common problems. There’s some guidance on the basic sewing kit you should have, plus advice on which fabrics to choose and basics of cutting out and different stitches that you need to construct basic or more straightforward products. The workshop includes a beautiful drawstring back for you to give to someone special in your life for Christmas. We all know that the demonstration of love through gifts is about thought and effort not how much money you have to spend. That said, students of this workshop will have access to some of the best and most luxury fabrics we have at ReTweed to make a really beautiful stand-out bag that will be reused in the life of the person they give it to. It might also be that you need a little special something for yourself – so keep the end product and enjoy it forever. Happy Christmas 😊
This workshop will be delivered by Nichola Purvis who started as a student of ReTweed and now works with students, graduates of ReTweed’s courses and volunteering sessions and Jodie Sanderson who has been working with ReTweed for almost two years, she has her own craft business and is fashion graduate of Newcastle College and Northumbria University.
Experience Level: Beginners welcome. All materials, accessories and haberdashery are included.
Workshop Cost: £39.00 all materials, refreshments and cake. The session will run from 10:30am – 3:45pm. Experience Level: Beginners or Revivers
