Have you ever fancied painting or upcycling your own furniture but don’t know where to start? Do you love the look of all the retro, arty and quirky furniture in magazines and vintage shops? Well, this is the course for you… Come and join us at ReTweed for a fun-filled furniture workshop for beginners.
The course will be run by Terry Howson who has many years of experience of furniture painting and decorative techniques. She will help you unleash your inner artisan and transform your old piece of furniture to new!
Terry will teach you how to make a range of environmentally friendly paints with the same quality and durability as anything you’ll buy in the shops but at a small fraction of the cost.
During the workshop, you will also practice how to prepare various surfaces– so that all your work in decorating your project won’t peel or flake off. Learn the basics of sandpaper, primers and undercoats. Practice getting the correct surface before painting.
You will take home a photo frame or renovated wooden chair you have transformed to inspire and add character to your home.
Experience Level: Beginners welcome. The use of all tools and materials is included.
NB: If you have a wooden chair that you’d like to work on – please bring it along. We will have a selection of wooden frames and a couple of demonstration chairs to practice with on the day. If you would like to purchase a chair on the day, the additional cost will be between £5 -£10
Workshop Cost £40 (including drinks, snacks and cake!!)
Experience Level: Beginners
